For Once, I Love Being Double Booked!

The Lorac Double Booked Full Face Collection has it all. A $455 value for only $55, it has everything you need for year-round glamour. I love that each side is separated by cool and warm shades. Inside the chic mock-croc silver case you'll find sixteen eyeshadows, two blushes, two lip glosses, one bronzer, one highlighter, one lip liner, and a dual-sided shadow/liner brush. When travelling I live off of Lorac palettes, and this one is going to be a great addition to my collection.

L'Oreal HIP Color Presso Lip Gloss

The Product: L'Oreal HIP High Intensity Pigments Color Presso Lip Gloss

The Claim: A fun, innovative way to create custom color...and your signature shade.

The Results: I tried the Trendy and Swanky colors, and I must say that they lived up to their names! These glosses consist of two separated tubes that can be mixed and matched to make your perfect color combination. It was easier for me, however, to either use the same amount of both, or just one of the colors. The blend of the colors was great, as were the individuals colors. Trendy, a mauve/light pink blend smelled delicious and gave a natural shimmer to my lips. Swanky, a bright pink/golden pink blend added a pop of color without being too overwhelming. The glosses are super-moisturizing, and I actually started using them instead of my regular chapstick--they worked that well!

Benefit - New Lip Gloss

I prefer gloss that has a sponge tip instead of a brush, as this one does, because it's easier to apply without a mirror. Also, this gloss is not sticky at all, which I think is both good and bad. Good because you don't have to worry about your hair sticking to it, and bad because it doesn't last as long. Fortunately, the tube is so cute I don't mind having to whip it out more often to apply. My favorite shade is Fresh Squeezed--the perfect pink for summer!

Shades include:

• kiss you (clear fuchsia)
• fresh squeezed (pink grapefruit)
• i'm with the band (golden pink shimmer)
• friends in high places (sparkling raspberry)
• almost famous (copper penny)
• zone out (golden nude)
• who are you wearing? (passion fruit pink)
• life on the A list (first kiss pink)

Exhilarating Lip Gloss

The aptly named Prescriptives Exhilarating Lip Gloss is a jelly gloss that glides on with a burst of fresh guava flavor. The packaging alone is enought to have me wishing I was in Hawaii instead of stuck at work (actually, I always wish I was in Hawaii, but this lip gloss makes the vacation-craving worse). The gloss Features a high-shine finish and subtle tints of color, in a graphic tube decorated in signature Calyx graffiti. Available in Guava, Pink Grapefruit, and Mango.

I've got the Fever!

Product: Lancome's La Laque Fever Ultimate Lasting Full Color Lipshine.

Claim: Revolution in shine. High Potency color. Lacquered lips last for six hours. For the first time at Lancôme, an elixir of vibrant concentrated color and unprecedented shine in one gliding stroke. From the moment of application, densely pixilated pearls combined with unique polymers give multi-dimensional shine that truly holds to your lips: no touch ups for 6 hours.New soft-sculpt applicator smoothly polishes and precisely designs fuller lips in a perfectly even layer for sensual impeccable contours.

Results: I tried Spotpink, a shimmery light pink. The color pigmentation was just okay. It could have been the shade I tried, but I was underwhelmed with the coverage. However, I loved the shine; it was almost a vinyl look. The feel of it is very creamy and a little sticky--not tacky or goopy, but it had a slight stickiness to it, which is probably the reason that it lasted for hours. After the first hour the shine started to fade, but even that is long time for me. After eating, I could still feel and see the gloss on my lips, though it was very subtle. All in all, I really liked it.

Dessert for you Lips

Sally Hansen's Natural Butter Lip Shine is one of the best-smelling lip glosses ever! It smells exactly like fresh guava juice. I wear it in Fresh, a sheer pink that delivers a natural tint and high shine. It's a bit sticky, so it stays on a long time, and is super-shiny. Contains 94% natural ingredients to soften and moisturize lips, including shea, mango, cocoa, olive and avocado butters, Vitamin E, acia berry, blueberry and blackberry extracts.

It Hurts So Good

I'm of the mindset that if it hurts, it's working. Not necessarily accurate, but in the case of Smashbox's O-Plump Intuitive Lip Plumper, that's definitely the case. The color is the same as the original Intuitive Gloss, but this one is packed full of an ingredient (not sure what it is) that plumps your lips. And it actually works. I should warn you that it feels like pins-and-needles when you first put it on, but my lips were definitely bigger. I've only been using it for a few days, but so far I'm loving my fuller pout!

A New Kind of Candy Hearts

Philosophy's Candy Hearts lip gloss trio is a fun new take on the traditional candy hearts gift. The box even has a "To" and "From" area to write your names. Tarte "Perfect Pairs" Lipgloss

If you know anyone getting married, I would definitely them about Tarte's custom glosses. You can pick any gloss duo (my pick is Jake & Samantha) and Tarte will personalize the names for the bride and groom. For instance, if I was getting married I could have wedding favors of lip gloss named Lindsey & George (Clooney). Such a cute idea! Minimum order is 25, and the more you order the more discount is given.

Chanel Spring 2009 Collection

After my rant on the new Chanel lip pallet, I'm pleased to report that the Spring 2009 collection is gorgeous. They hit a bulls-eye on the Bohemian-chic look. Highlights include the eyeshadow quad in Mystic Eyes, which has wearable colors for everyday that can also transition to a great night look. The Lipgloss in Beige Guitare is a shimmery nude beige that works perfectly with the earthy tones in the shadow quad, and the dark violet nail polish in Vendetta is a fresh alternative to the black and brown polishes from last year.

Recession Obsession, Part 2

--My Nars Orgasm lip gloss has been replaced with Clinique's Long Last Glosswear in Cabana Crush. Not only am I saving $10 a tube, but Clinique's gloss is longer lasting and contains SPF 15. This is a new staple in my make-up bag.

--Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel has been substituted with Purpose Gentle Cleanser. I love the convenient pump!
--My favorite Caudalie Beauty Elixir spray is now the Burt's Bees Carrot Seed Mist. It's good, but I'm going back to the original as soon as it runs out; lack of money is just not a good enough reason to go without. At least I tried...

Holiday Juicy Tubes

Lancome's new limited edition Juicy Tubes have come out for the holidays; this year they boast black accents. For my money, juicy tubes are a must for quick, sheer coverage on the go. My fave in this collection: Pretty in Pink, a cool pink with a hint of shimmer. It works great as a subtle nude lip with a matching smokey cat eye. Very Parisian and understated. C'est tres chic!

A Parisian Treat

I had my first Kir Royale in Paris when I was twenty; I felt sophisticated and chic as I sat in the Ritz sipping on the Champagne and Creme de Cassis cocktail--I swear it smells exactly the same. It's a moment I'll never forget, and I can relive it daily when I use the Philosophy Pink Bubbly lip gloss, exfoliating wash, or shower gel. Simply amazing, and I love the pink color.

MAC Monogram Collection

The new collection from MAC is something very different for them: a high end line. The prices are near double to what they normally are, ranging from $22-$70. The collection is packaged in gold and browns and includes lipstick, lip gloss, powder, brushes, fragrance, and a clutch. All in all, the colors are nice, but it reminds me of something I'd find from Estee Lauder. I would just as soon stick to their regular line (which is still fabulous), and save my money--you're basically just paying for the packaging.

Healthy Lip Gloss???

So, I received a full size sample of Borba lip tint in Luscious a while back, and was extremely excited to try it. Per Borba's packaging, this lip tint "boosts the visible benefits of all BORBA Nutraceuticals and Cosmeceutical products by harnessing the positive effects of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients everytime you lick your lips."

First of all, the scent/taste (supposedly Vanilla Mint) was somewhat nauseating. It was way too sweet and the scent gave me a headache. Second, I really think it made my lips dryer than they already were--I had to put chapstick on before I used it. Third, the color didn't go on smoothly. Overall, this was horrible. I do not lick my lips enough to get the amount vitamins that would make this product worthwhile. In fact, when I have this on I try not to lick my lips at all! I actually threw it away, and it takes A LOT to make me get rid of a beauty product. Has anybody else tried this product? What do you think?

Tarte--Purse Your Lips

I know I've said it before, but I just love the limited edition items that come out during the holidays. For a beauty junkie like me, finding new products becomes a full-time job from October through December. The latest: Tarte Purse Your Lips Limited Edition Lipgloss Clutch. An adorable broze clutch houses nine of tarte's famous lipglosses. Tarte glosses are infused with the Tarte t5 super fruit complex™, which is "loaded with naturally occurring, antioxidant rich nutrients and vitamins that have been known to deliver refining, anti-aging, and skin-restorative benefits with each application." Now, I don't know if it actually makes you healthier, but it tastes delicious and I feel like I'm attempting to do something good for my body during the holidays.
